Shipping you a defective battery is actually quite costly on many aspects, hence the reason why we don't mind wasting a battery out of a batch from time to time to prevent it best we can.
-Most batteries have no expiration dates or manufacture dates printed on them but generally have a 5 year shelf life as per manufacturer data sheet. There are many factors as to a battery shelf life but the most important is the temperature of the area in which they are stored. Silver oxide batteries are very sensitive to excess heat above 85 degrees. We keep our inventory in an air conditionned environment to preserve them and prevent leakage. If they do have a "Best by" date, it will be clearly stated in our listings and in the pictures.The date printed on all Energizer batteries packaging is the copyright date approval ( c with circle around it, see pic ) and not an expiration or manufacture date. I know, confusing!
-We package batteries securely to prevent you from getting an empty envelope because of it getting ripped open during shipping! Trust me, it happens!
