    Description

An American “CONN” cornet that has the British Brass Band sound!!!
A great PLAYER with nice NEW Satin body with clear lacquer!!!
This is an outstanding Conn 34A model cornet and a top-quality Intermediate level instrument by Conn-Selmer Musical Instruments Company. Over 100 years Conn gained recognition and became one of the top Brass makers in the US. Since 1985, the Conn and King brands have continued under the UMI name (now Conn-Selmer), making it a strong voice in the music instrument industry of today and tomorrow. The serial number is 39 260162 (which should date the horn to 1989) and the logo on the horn says “CONN, 34A, USA”. It has a beautiful New Satin with clear lacquer finish. The slides are polished Gold lacquer with the water keys and valve hardware in nickel silver. There is only a few small pings and ripples in the lead pipe and tuning slide that I have tried to show in the pictures. When I got it a few years ago I ultrasonic cleaned the horn and worked the crushed lead pipe and a few dents it had. Then I shot the body with glass bead to give it a wonderful Satin look. I polished the slides and shot the tuning slide with Gold lacquer. The other slides have the factory deep gold lacquer. I aligned the valves put new waterkey corks and springs and then re-assembled it. It is a fine looking finish and a great player! I used it this month with my Brass Band for a few practices. It is a wonderful looking horn and plays nice with a full British sound. I have played this horn several times and it has a wonderful tone, and a nice mellow blending sound (Melanie said I sound great on this horn, lol, as always). It plays in pretty well in tune and has a nice tone! It's in excellent mechanical condition - all the tuning slides work smoothly, including the first and third which are usually frozen and require some kind of repair. We have put on new “O” rings to quiet the third valve slide upon return when using the ring and the ring as a built in stop. There are NO missing pull-tabs on the slides (rare in a used horn). The valves work freely and spring back into place with ease and we have installed new felts in them. The Nickel shows NO wear and the valves are smooth and have wonderful compression. There are still scars from the crushed lead pipe but it came out pretty nice. Overall the horn is great looking and great playing and rates about a 9 of 10 on the 10 scale. The cornet comes with a good mouthpiece. I also have a great case for this fine horn. It is black outside with a few small blemishes. It is a clean, furry black inside with light wear. This is your chance - why spend upwards of 00 for a cornet (C-S has the King 603 model now and it goes for 00) when you can pick this up for a lot less than that? I have seen this horn used on several websites for 0+. Take a look...it’s a great horn for a student, intermediate player, advanced player, comeback player, or Brass Band player that wants the British sound.
