  • Condition: Poor. The surface is heavily eroded. Any paint has long since disappeared. Several cracks visible. It is stable and solid now. The animal on top may have broken off and been reattached? It is stable now.

    I purchased this in 2012. Nicely carved,. Good symmetry. Here is the description I was given at this time:
    “Very Old Bobo Fing mask
    Congratulations and thank you for buying the ancient Bobo Fing mask. It was one of my favorite items. And now you own it!
    The mask came from the actual village o Baa in the Western Burkina,
    precisely
    in the province of Houet.
    -Alobalo”
    Additional information: The
    Bobo number 130,000. They live in eastern Burkina Faso, and also in Mali. They are farmers. The major food crops are sorghum, millet, yams, and maize. They grow cotton and peanuts as cash crops. Their lives are regulated by a council of elders.
    All my auctions are starting at .99 and no reserve. I’m open to reasonable offers. I have spent a great deal of money on my collection over the years, will see if I break even.
