Description
Up for sale is a real piece of musical history . This is a Harry Jay Columbia trumpet/cornet dating to approximately 1921/22. That’s right a trumpet/cornet. It was a hybrid that the Harry Jay company began making around 1911. These were popular horns in the Chicago jazz scene of the 1920s. Such names as Louis Armstrong , King Oliver , George Mitchell, Muggsy Spanier used these horns. Even Miles Davis had one . They are quite unique in that they can be played with either a trumpet or cornet mouthpiece by using the different lead pipe receivers. This one comes complete with both receivers for cornet and trumpet mouthpieces . It also comes with the A slides as well as what appears to be 2 original mouthpieces. Not much is missing from this set. Namely the 2 cleaning swabs. Other than that comes with everything you see in the pictures . This is a great playing horn . The compression is wonderful . Very solid condition. Very few dings or dents . None of which are that noticeable. Valves are in great shape . See pics
