Ever feel like you are literally DROWNING in cornets and trumpets? No? Then you are not me. I need to get rid of the under-played instruments from my basement. Some of them are great, as I’ll be the first to tell you. Some are not great, and I’ll tell you that too. All of them looked interesting to me at some point. Maybe they’ll be interesting for you too. This is a HOLTON ‘RESOTONE’ Bb CORNET, in a glorious silver finish, with the some of the nicest engraving I’ve seen on a horn. Serial number 1225xx places this in 1937. It’d be nice to say it plays as good as it looks, but it doesn’t: compression is just OK, so the lowest notes are muzzy. Beyond that though, it’s pretty good, and the valves are quick and responsive. The original case is here too, with the broken-off handle parts inside and ready to be fixed or cloned. This would be a great candidate for a valve replate and full restoration, but I have too many cornets and not enough money. Low start bid of ONE HUNDRED FIFTY NINE DAMN U.S. DOLLARS. Shipping is a flat FORTY BUCKS in the CONUS.
THE FINE PRINT: NO RETURNS, this is old stuff here and is described as best as I can make it and take it (photos, that is). AK, HI PR buyers please wait for my invoice, as shipping will be higher. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING, as far as I am concerned. Your use of sketchy drop-box re-shippers is AYOR and your business, not mine. No bidders with less than 10 positive feedback. Payment is due within 48 hours, please— this isn’t food or shelter, it’s to be purchased with money you have when you place your bid.
