    Description

Ever feel like you are literally DROWNING in cornets and trumpets? No? Then you are not me. I need to get rid of the under-played instruments from my basement. Some of them
are great, some mediocre at best, but they all looked interesting at one time or another. Maybe they’ll be interesting for you too.
Here’s the Swiss army knife of cornets, a Chicago-era (they were founded there in the 1910s) HOLTON ‘NEW PROPORTION’ Bb-C LP-HP CORNET, in a smashing high-polish silver finish. This cornet comes with a slew of tuning slides to switch between Bb ‘low pitch’ (A=440Hz, modern concert pitch), Bb ‘high pitch’ (A=453Hz or so, popular among British brass bands), and C low and high pitch (a single bend slide bypasses the compound bend near the 3rd valve). So many slides it makes my head hurt to think about it. Two main issues: 1) The 2nd valve Bb LP slide has gone missing over the years. Hard to notice among the plethora of slides sliding about; and 2) Valve compression is pretty low— it must be a great horn to have had all 3 valves played to this level of leaky. Original 1910s-20s case looks its age. A project I will never finish, almost all parts there, cosmetics are good. Low start bid of FIFTEEN DAMN U.S. DOLLARS. Shipping is a flat FORTY BUCKS in the CONUS (all these slides mean it weighs 9 pounds in the case, before any box or packing is added in, and the case is 19 inches long by itself.)
THE FINE PRINT: NO RETURNS, this is old stuff here and is described as best as I can make it and take it (photos, that is). AK, HI PR buyers please wait for my invoice, as shipping will be higher. International shipping is through eBay GSP as far as I am concerned. Your use of sketchy drop-box re-shippers is AYOR and your business, not mine. No bidders with less than 10 positive feedback. Payment is due within 48 hours, please— this isn’t food or shelter, it’s to be purchased with money you have when you place your bid.
